Our cars brake system is one of if not the most important system as far as safety is concerned but is one that seems to get the least attention today we had a young man with a 2009 ford mustang came in to our shop to have a oil change done we noticed this car had all kind of upgrades in the sound system and was dressed up nicely needless to say he had spent alot of cash on his ride as far as appearance goes and there is nothing wrong with that but as i walked out to the car to get some info as the tech was pulling the car in the service bay  as he started to stop i heard a grinding noise in the front wheel area i ask the customer if he had heard this he says he had been hearing this a few days and he was going to get it look at later after he got this new amp and speakers he wanted i told him i don't think i would wait to long  or it could be very dangerous not to mention destroying him and his nice ride while on the rack doing the oil change and tire rotation the tech called us back out to the car to look at something when we got to the car we seen the right front caliper leaking brake fluid the pads had no liner left  and the rotor what was left of it was grooved and paper thin so i explained to him he needed immediate  brake system repair  i told him the car was unsafe to drive so i gave him a estimate for new rotors and pads also a new caliper at a cost of $209.29 which he replied oh no a shop down the road advertised front brake service for $39.95 i tried to tell this customer that one rotor of any quality would cost this amount much less 2 rotors a set of quality brake pads and a new caliper plus fluid and labor so ask your self how can they give you a quality brake job for $39.95  answer they can't  i don't like to speak against another shop but i had seen this shop advertise this $39.95 brake job my self and i told him to beware but he wouldn't listen so he left then about 2 weeks later he shows back up at our shop very upset in a old 1970 ford pu that look like it was on its last leg  he wanted a copy of the estimate that we had gave him and proceeded to tell me that he got the cheap brake job at this other placed and the next day while on his was to work  his brakes had  failed and he had hit  another vehicle in the rear and totaled his nice ride when he showed us the picture i said you are lucky to be alive so as you can see the brake system is not where we need to try to save money it could cost us more than we want to pay after this experience we put up a sign saying we repair $39.95 brake jobs!!!! what do you think should we try to go cheap on a brake job? we would love to know what you think
